How to Create a Parent/Child Event Setup

The BAFTA Events platform offers Admins the ability to create a overarching ‘Parent’ event and then several smaller ‘Child’ events that sit under it. An example of this is could be festival or conference that have lots of breakout events or sessions.

This is helpful as it reduces the volume of events on the Events Listing page, and means Admins can focus on directing traffic to one URL.

How to Create a Parent / Child Set Up

The first step is to create the Parent event:

  1. Log in to the Admin side of BAFTA Events.
  2. Select Events from the header tabs.
  3. Select Events from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select the Add button in the top right hand corner.
  5. Select Yes for Event is A Parent input.
  6. If desired, input the Parent Event’s Venue (this is optional, as it will be required on the Child Events).
  7. Finish building the event as usual – see further instructions here.
  8. Ensure to Review, and Save & Close.

The second step is to create Child Event/s that live under the umbrella of the Parent event.

  1. Log in to the Admin side of BAFTA Events.
  2. Select Events from the header tabs.
  3. Select Events from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select the Add button in the top right hand corner.
  5. Select No for Event is A Parent input.
  6. Select the respective Parent Event from the Parent Event drop-down list.
  7. Finish building the event as usual – see further instructions here.
  8. Ensure to Review, and Save & Close.

Note – It is advisable to review the Parent / Child setup on the Booker Interface by logging in as a Test User.

Tip – Admins can utilise the parent/child functionality to create various event setups. For instance, selling tickets for both in-person and online to create a hybrid offering; or advertising different time slots for the same event.
